Located approximately 20 kilometres north of Diglipur, near the quaint village of Shyam Nagar, this hidden gem awaits your discovery. Prepare to be mesmerized as you embark on a 15-minute trek through the lush surroundings, leading you to the sight of these unique geological formations. As you approach, you will encounter several small muddy craters dotting the landscape you will first encounter the larger, dormant mud volcanoes that have graced the landscape for ages. These craters are formed by the release of natural gases from decaying organic matter beneath the Earth’s surface, gradually pushing the mud upwards.
To reach the Mud Volcano, you will embark on an exhilarating journey from Diglipur. Situated approximately 25 kilometres from the market and 30 kilometres from the jetty, the volcanic site requires a drive of approximately 35-45 minutes. Arriving at a small opening in the tropical jungle, you will park your taxi, two-wheeler, or auto-rickshaw and begin a trek of about 15 minutes.
