To get a taste of the underwater wonders, we decided to go snorkeling. The cost for this thrilling adventure was Rs. 500, a small price for the enchanting experience that awaited us.

To explore the mesmerizing corals, you need to take part in the island’s activities. Corals are sensitive organisms, and tourists are not allowed to venture barefoot into the water. You can witness these incredible formations through scuba diving or surface water activities like snorkeling.
Before embarking on your underwater journey, you’ll need to register your name and collect your equipment. It’s essential to change into appropriate attire, such as shorts, for comfort during snorkeling.
Preparing for Snorkeling
Once you’re ready, a trained instructor will guide you through the process. You’ll be provided with a special mask designed to cover your entire face, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience. The mask covers your eyes, nose, and mouth, allowing you to breathe naturally and communicate easily with your fellow snorkelers and the instructor. If you encounter any issues or feel suffocated, the instructor is there to assist you.
It’s common to feel a bit uneasy when you first put on the mask, but practicing above water helps you adjust and breathe comfortably. Remember that the slight discomfort at the beginning usually fades as you enter the water.
The Snorkeling Experience
Snorkeling at North Bay Island is an incredible experience, even though we noticed that many of the corals were not in their prime condition. It’s important to note that you don’t need to be a proficient swimmer to enjoy snorkeling here. Participants aged 10 to 50 can easily take part, as long as they remain on the water’s surface and follow the guidance of their instructor.

As the parachute catches the wind and gently lifts you off the boat, you feel the rush of thrill. The expansive views of the surrounding islands and the blue sea combine to create a captivating scene that will stay with you forever. Looking down from our high position, the North Bay Island is really beautiful. The island’s rich vegetation creates a striking contrast to the vast blue sea, while the coral reefs create a colorful underwater pattern. Photographers and lovers of the natural world will value this unusual viewpoint.
Scuba Diving: A Recommendation
While North Bay Island offers both snorkeling and scuba diving, our suggestion is to reserve scuba diving for your visit to Havelock Island. The corals in North Bay may not be as vibrant as those in Havelock, making it a more suitable place for snorkeling.
A Touch of History
